Microwave Pyrolysis is the chemical decomposition of hydrocarbon materials by heating in the absence of oxygen or any other reagents e.g. no catalyst. It is an ideal treatment for organic waste and is excellent for the recycling or torrefaction of waste such as tyres, sewage sludge, agricultural waste, waste wood, electronic scrap, cables, plastic waste etc. In some cases it is used to reduce the moisture content of materials so as to enable them to be processed using CDP.
The resulting output materials depend on the processed materials and the nature of the processing (e.g. torrefaction), for most applications the output is synthetic fuel and syngas.
As with our CDP and CHP units, the Microwave Pyrolysis units are modular and delivered and run in 12m container frames.
